Full Description

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships (GOI-IES) are awarded to high-caliber students from non-EU/EEA countries to study in Ireland for a period of one year. It highlights Ireland’s engagement with international students and promotes the country as a center for international education. It can be applied to the final year of an undergraduate program, or one year of a taught master’s or research program.

Eligibility Criteria

Domiciled outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland/UK
✓
Hold an offer of a place at an eligible Irish higher education institution

Demonstrate a record of outstanding academic achievement
✓
Excellent communication skills and potential to be an ambassador for Ireland

Two letters of reference

Personal statement detailing academic, personal, and career rationale

Application Process

  1. Apply to and secure an offer from an Irish university
  2. Submit the GOI-IES application online through the HEA portal
  3. Applications are evaluated by independent assessors
  4. Awards are announced in the summer

Important Information

•The scholarship only covers one year of study. For a multi-year degree, the student must fund the remaining years.
