Full Description

The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is open to citizens of certain developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries’ development efforts. The program offers scholarships for over 45 participating master's programs in various universities in the US, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan.

Benefits

Cost of basic medical insurance
Economy class air travel between the home country and the host university
Monthly subsistence allowance to cover living expenses (including books)

Eligibility Criteria

Be a national of a World Bank member developing country (India is eligible)
Not hold dual citizenship of any developed country
Have at least 3 years of paid development-related employment since earning a Bachelor’s degree
Be admitted unconditionally to one of the participating master's programs

Required Documents

Proof of unconditional admission to a participating program
Completed application form with development-focused essays
Two professional recommendations
Copy of Bachelor’s degree
CV outlining employment history

Application Process

  1. Apply and gain unconditional admission to at least one JJ/WBGSP participating master’s program
  2. Once admitted, submit the scholarship application online during the application window
  3. The World Bank reviews applications based on professional experience and commitment to development
