Full Description

Separate from the main MEXT graduate scholarship, the MEXT Teacher Training Scholarship supports currently employed schoolteachers who wish to improve their teaching skills and knowledge through an 18-month non-degree training programme at a Japanese university of education.

Eligibility Criteria

✓
Currently employed as a teacher at a primary, secondary, or teacher training institution
✓
At least five years of teaching experience at the time of application
✓
Under 35 years of age
✓
Willingness to return to teaching after the programme

Proof of teaching experience

Academic transcripts

Health certificate

Application Process

  1. Apply through the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in India
  2. Pass the written and interview screening conducted by the embassy
  3. Selected candidates are placed at a partner Japanese university of education
