Full Description

To promote girls' education and compensate for the financial costs of higher education, the UGC introduced this scholarship specifically for the single girl child in a family. It recognizes the value of women in society and supports them through a two-year regular, full-time master’s degree in any recognized Indian university.

Benefits

Financial award of ₹36,200 per year for a maximum of two years

No tuition fee is covered directly, but the stipend can be used for any educational expenses

Eligibility Criteria

Must be the only child in the family (no brothers or sisters)
✓
Must have taken admission to a regular, full-time first-year Master’s degree
✓
Maximum age limit is 30 years at the time of admission
✓
Distance education programs are not eligible

Affidavit of Single Girl Child status on a ₹50 stamp paper (duly attested)

Aadhaar card details
✓
Proof of admission to a Master’s degree program

Undergraduate mark sheets

Application Process

  1. Apply online exclusively via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
  2. Upload the notarized affidavit confirming single girl child status
  3. Application must be verified by the host university/college online

Important Information

•Twin daughters or fraternal daughters are also eligible if they are the only children in the family.
