The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship is a gateway for courageous, bold, and original thinkers seeking to make a meaningful impact through their doctoral research in the humanities and social sciences. Alongside a generous financial package, scholars participate in a unique three-year leadership program with Mentors and Fellows from various sectors.

Eligibility Criteria

✓
Registered or accepted into a doctoral program in the humanities or social sciences at a Canadian university
✓
Research must relate to the Foundation’s themes (Human Rights, Citizenship, Canada in the World, People in their Natural Environment)
✓
Demonstrated leadership skills and community engagement
✓
Open to international students studying in Canada

Application Process

  1. Submit an application via the Foundation’s portal
  2. Universities review internal candidates and forward nominations
  3. The Foundation conducts rigorous interviews (group and individual) for finalists
  4. Results are announced in the spring
