Full Description

ETH Zurich supports excellent students wanting to pursue a Master’s degree with two scholarship programs. The Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) covers the full study and living costs of the students and includes mentorship. It is geared towards the best candidates from ETH’s own bachelor's programs as well as from other universities nationally and internationally.

Eligibility Criteria

✓
Very good result in bachelor's degree (top 10% of bachelor's degree program)

Applying for a Master's degree program at ETH Zurich
✓
Available to national and international students

Required Documents

ETH Master’s admission application
✓
Letter of motivation
✓
Pre-proposal for your Master's thesis
✓
Two reference letters from professors

Application Process

  1. Apply for a Master's degree at ETH Zurich online
  2. In the application portal, indicate you wish to be considered for the ESOP
  3. Submit the pre-proposal and motivation letter as part of the application window (typically November to December)
  4. Committees review the applications and announce decisions in March

Important Information

•The application window is very strict and usually closes in mid-December for the following autumn intake.
•The pre-proposal for the Master's thesis is highly scrutinized and must reflect original, independent scientific thought.
